Protein Modeling

Protein modeling will be a trial event at the State NJ Science Olympiads.
This event is sponsored by the RCSB Protein Data Bank.
Scores earned in trial events will be included when calculating a
team’s total score at the 2008 tournaments! Please see http://www.njscienceolympiad.org for more information.
Teams can send questions about the event to
buildmodels@deposit.rcsb.org
***ONSITE MODEL TIPS
What will the onsite protein build be like? Teams should look at
http://education.rcsb.org/olympiad/zincfinger and be able to
visualize the helices and zinc atom of this structure.
At the regionals, teams modeled amino acids 116-147 of PDB entry 1cll.
At the state competition, teams will be building a different part of
the structure.
***EVENT CHECKLIST
A checklist has been posted at http://education.pdb.org/olympiad to help
teams prepare for the event.
Teams should remember to bring their full calmodulin model to be
IMPOUNDED.
***PREBUILD MODEL AND PRACTICE KITS
If you would like a kit to build the model to be impounded, or if you
would like a toober to use for practice, please send your postal
address to buildmodels@deposit.rcsb.org
